First Contract Signing in Year 2017


Kabangu Kasamba from Canada is a first Europe Basketball Academy player that signed professional contract in New 2017 Year. Kasamba will play for remaining part of season 2016/17 for Italian basketball club Licata Studentesca 1971. Kasamba 6'5'' swingman, played two seasons for the Chicago State Cougars, an NCAA Division 1 team on scholarship. In two seasons, he appeared in 59 games, including 32 in a starting role. As a rookie in 2008-09, he averaged 1.8 points and 1.9 rebounds a game. In his first collegiate start against Utah Valley, he recorded his first career double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds in 45 minutes. As a sophomore, he was fourth in team scoring, averaging 6.8 points a game. He also pulled down 3.3 rebounds and added 26 assists and 36 steals. In high school, in Kasamba’s senior year, he averaged 25 points, 10 rebounds, six assists and two steals a game. He was named Mr. Basketball Niagara twice while earning first-team All-Niagara accolades three straight seasons. He played AAU ball for Grassroots Canada and was a member of the Under-17 Team Ontario that captured gold in 2004. A versatile and crafty swingman, Kabangu finished off his college playing career as a top player at Brock University where he was a consistent performer averaging 16.3 PPG and 5.6 rebounds in his last year of play. He had many outstanding games including a 29-point and 15-rebound point game vs. Laurier University. Kasamba started his professional career with IBA’s Toronto 3D. He is our 99th player that ended on the professional team since Europe Basketball Academy was established in year 2010.
