Tre Fields:”Dreams do come true and I’m living testament to that.”

Tre Fields recently joined CB Ifach Calpe and started playing professionally after years of struggle that followed graduation from NCAA division 3. Below there is Tre's first interview:

Where you started to play basketball and if you may explain your basketball background?
I started playing basketball when I was about 5-6 years old. In a small city Johnson city, TN, I had one coach growing up who was always pick me up and take me to work out and that’s when I fell in love with the game.

What problems to getting into professional European market you faced?
I went to a d2 school then transferred to a d3 school and I guess teams wasn’t sold on me bc I didn’t play division one but I kept working and kept getting better and a guy found me through some networking which lead me to the academy and from there to a pro contract.

Why you decided to join Europe Basketball Academy? How you heard about it? Who recommended it to you?
I decided to join EBA because it was going to give me a better chance at being scene. I heard about it through a guy named Alen Rugovac and he recommended it to me.

Did you attend some camps and if you did can you explain difference between those camps and Europe Basketball Academy?
Yes, I went to a Europe combine in the USA where they tested me in all the agilities stuff, vertical, and we played a little bit. The difference was I got more training and learned what it took to be a pro and do it at a high level with the academy. It prepared me to be successful and I learned that nothing comes easy. You have to prove yourself and that’s what I wanted.

What is difference between playing in Europe and where you played before coming to Europe?
The difference is that it’s pro basketball and everyone can play here. And not everyone can play college ball. I dominated college and I wanted to prove I could be a great pro.

How the days looked for you at Europe Basketball Academy? Describe the regular day you were going through? Describe what new you learned about European basketball in Europe Basketball Academy?
My day was I would wake up early go to my first work out, then I would go eat and rest before my second workout at 3 pm. After that I would go to aqua and get a workout in there with weights and extra running by riding the bike. After that I would go eat and then rest and wake up and do it all over again the next day.

Your advices to players that are considering joining Europe Basketball Academy? What are values that we share? What kind of player should enter academy?
My advice would be to show up every single day and work your butt off. I would also say focus on the details of every drill don’t just do the drill to be doing it. Always go full speed game reps. The values are to show up and work hard or don’t bother coming at all. I think gritty players or hungry players should enter the academy. Guys that want to really be successful at this game.

Share some interesting situations that you experienced in academy that you will remember and that made strong impression on you.
Ahh what I’m going to remember most is coach Ivan telling me that I was be lazy one practice and that if I was going to make it I had to do the right things all the time even when no one was watching. And also im a competitor and my roommate at the time is a competitor and we went at it one practice and we didn’t like each other during but after we was back to being boys. I’ll always remember that experience as welll.

Where you ended up after you attended Europe Basketball Academy? How many players signed while you were in academy?
I ended up in the fifth division with a team called C.B Ifachi Calpe club. And I’m doing well right now. Averaging 17.5 ppg, 6 rpg, and 2.0 assist. There was one other player that signed when I was there and he was my roommate.

Here you may write some finishing comments what you find important to share.
I would say to guys there and guys that are entering the academy, work hard always believe in yourself when no one else does. Dreams do come true and I’m living testment to that. I wasn’t suppose to make it or be a pro but I am. Always remember fellas “hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard an if your talented and work hard well that’s a bonus” believe and you can never fail.
